Extra time in Memphis

We decided to stay an extra day in Memphis after the tournament. Christian really wanted to see the Pyramid (especially since they had studied about Egypt in Social Studies this year). We were amazed that it's all just deserted down there. We were there when they built it and even attended some basketball games there.....just sad. But it's still an amazing sight to see and we had to take some pictures!

As we always try to do, especially when we are at Justin's house, we got to visit quickly with my sweet friend, Susan. She had asked Rebecca to paint her a sunflower picture and Rebecca worked on it at art lessons through the month of May to give it to her. It turned out really pretty and Susan really loved it - enough to ask her to paint another one!!!

Christian really wanted to go to Huey's since Rebecca and I went back in March when we went to Memphis for Morgan's Gymnastics Competition (click here for blog/pictures). So our hotel was pretty close to one, so we had lunch there on Sunday afternoon. He could hardly contain himself because he wanted to shoot the toothpick through the straw at the ceiling.

What do you know if Christian didn't get it on his 2nd try!!!

Even Julianna tried....

We were so thrilled to find out that my nephew, James (Justin & Mandy's son) was celebrating his first birthday while we were there so we got to attend his party. We had a lot of fun and just enjoyed him. He is such a cutie!

They had a kiddie pool and it was a hit

James loved the water

Justin bought golf toss/ladder ball and we enjoyed playing that. You can see Matthew talking to my dad - Mom and Dad came up too and that was fun!

Mandy did a great job on his 1st cake!

Happy Birthday, James

After everyone left, we hung out for a bit longer and Rebecca played with James & his new toys!
