Summer volunteering

This summer, we had some opportunities to volunteer and serve.  Our church helped serve lunches at a community center in Springfield.  We've done it before but this year, the neighborhood kids wanted to stay and play after they'd eaten the hour while we were there.  My kids did amazing and I was so proud of them.  It was fun to watch my older two and see how they are ready to do a mission trip- we've done so many with students their age and I look forward to their getting that opportunity!!

The little girls loved Rebecca's hair and she was so sweet to let them play with it!

The boys loved to get out and play basketball!

The Dixie Youth baseball World Series was held in Springfield this summer so we volunteered with a banquet that was hosted by our local churches.  Matthew was swamped with work and couldn't make it but the kids and I went and had a fun time!

And Julianna's Sunday School class at school had a mission project - they were collecting money to donate to the local Open Door Pregnancy Center.  Their teacher is a counselor there, so this ministry is very important to their class.  They saved up enough money to buy a car seat  so our church "commissioned" them as missionaries one Sunday before they took it to the center.

The following week, we all met up at the Center and give the donation

Here, the kids got the opportunity to pray for the baby that was going to receive this car seat.  Very sweet!
