A Birthday Celebration

So in my previous post, I shared I wasn't so thrilled about turning 40. Well, fortunately I was in good company. I have 2 other sweet friends who go to church with me that turned 40 within weeks of me. Doreen's birthday was November 26th and Heather's was December 1st. So we decided we would go out together and celebrate - just us girls.

I had grand plans of trying something new and different, but every thing I tried kept falling apart. I thought it would be so fun to go to a Line Dancing club and have a little fun. The first one was going to perfect, except that the 3rd Thursday of every month is Fight Night..... so that didn't work. Then I thought we might try a bigger one in downtown Nashville, but of course on that one night, they were having some huge concert and they weren't doing the line dancing.

So I gave up. It was an extremely busy week for me anyway and I was so stressed out, I almost canceled it. That of course stressed out Doreen, which later I found out why.....she had rented a Limousine for us to go out in but wanted to surprise us. So after Christian's basketball game, I came home and changed and the girls picked me up - much to my surprise in the limo!!! They'd both been in limos before, but not me. It was my first time.

It was a fun night - we had different adventures since we were "winging it" and spent a little more time in the limo trying to find a place to eat, but we finally settled on a Japanese Steakhouse and had a wonderful time.

I am thankful for dear friends here. Maybe 40 won't be so bad after all with friends like these!!

Katie, Doreen & Heather before heading out!

Wow! My first time in a limo

Trying to take pictures of ourselves!

Our driver took our pictures

We ended up at a Japanese Steakhouse and had fun - here's we're just being silly!!

Doreen got some flavored Saki - I'd never had it before - it was good but a little strong

Doreen liked the melon flavor

Fire!

"Japanese Volcano"

After dinner, Kevin took us by the Opryland Hotel, which had reopened that day (after the big flood), to see the lights

Sweet friends

Hard to see but the 3 of us were peeking out from behind the tree!!!
