From June 11 to July 11 of this year, our family (or a portion of it) was glued to the TV watching the World Cup soccer games. We had a lot of fun watching them together and although a good portion of the United States just didn't "get it", the Warren Family definitely "got it" and loved every bit of this world-wide adored sport.
The United States team made it through the preliminary round and were in their first quarter final game and Christian BEGGED us to let him have a World Cup party over here. So we agreed and he invited the youth group to come over on Saturday afternoon to watch the game.
We went all out in USA decor (good thing it was the week prior to the 4th of July) and we had 10 friends come over. It ended up being a lot of fun for all the kids. Sadly, the USA lost and were out of the tournament but I think having all of his friends over made that a little easier loss than if they hadn't been here.
Oh, one more thing. If you watched the games at all this summer, you heard the Vuvuzela's - those stadium horns that sound like a swarm of bees, right? Well, Christian ordered one from Amazon and it actually was delivered about 10 minutes into game time. So he had that thing, too. It was quite funny but man, that was loud!!!!
So as always, here are some pictures of the party!
A dark picture but Christian is in it.
The beginnings of the snack table. It got quite filled up!
See? More decorations!
Even some outside!
Part of the crew watching the game
Notice Christian's blue horn??
A group shot of those who could come. Notice Matthew on the end holding up the soccer ball? Christian decided he wanted a drawing so he bought that and had them all put their names in a hat and he had drawings for his friends - mostly gum and Matthew got the grand prize - the soccer ball, of course.
And as always, you've gotta end it all with a silly picture!
