Julianna finally gets to do something!

After  6 years of being dragged to soccer games, volleyball matches, basketball games, etc., we finally had the opportunity to let Julianna do something.  We signed her up to be a cheerleader for Upward Basketball.  We also MADE the big kids go to her games and cheer her on.  They didn't like the 8am
Saturday games but for what all she's had to endure in her life for them, it was the least they could do.

Of course she absolutely loved it and did great.  We were all surprised by her skills and coordination!  We were so proud of her and even as a 6 year old, we see what a leader she is.  Great job Julianna

All dressed up and ready for her first game!

The cheerleaders and basketball players praying before the game begins!

Her best friend Angela cheered with her and Julianna loved having her  on her squad!

Coach Becky was a great coach and went above and beyond to teach these girls!  Loved her.

Julianna with her end of the season trophy!
All the girls on her squad.

This was her professional picture!

Team picture - a few were missing this day!

Die-hard fans!

Love this girl!

Annual Girlfriend's weekend

I think as we get older, our weekends reflect that... We love sitting around and talking and sharing and laughing and watching movies at the lake house.  There's not so much power shopping and eating out and running all over town.

This weekend was a very relaxing one.  So much so that we didn't even take pictures until the end and of course Kim wasn't dressed for them so she just took them.  Susan also wasn't able to make it this year, so our pictures aren't quite a reflection of the full weekend.  But we took them anyway.

Love these girls - can't imagine my life without them!

I think we look pretty good for 40......

Vanderbilt Basketball game

Our neighbor offered us two Vanderbilt/UT basketball game tickets and how could we refuse?  Matthew let me go with Christian as I'd never been to one.  It was so much fun.  Here are just a couple of pictures - just to prove we did it!
In the nosebleed section - but it didn't matter!

The student section was fun to watch!

We saw some awesome b'ball - and enjoyed watching UT lose!

Love that kid - he's a great one!

A Busted Water Heater

When we got home from Georgia, The floor in Christian's room had buckled up.  (Remember it was a few years ago that we closed in the back half of the carport to make Christian his own room).  Matthew didn't seem extremely surprised because he had glued the board down and thought maybe it had finally just popped up.

Well, after a couple of days, Christian kept saying it sounded like water was under it but of course, I didn't really believe him.....until the carpet seemed wet in spots and he was sure he hadn't spilled anything.  Well, you guess it - the water heater in his room had busted while we were gone and had been leaking for days.

Fortunately, our insurance company was on the ball and we had a new water heater in a day and had a restoration team out there pulling it up and drying it right away, too.  Not quite what we wanted as our Christmas gift but fortunately God had provided for us, so it was all good.  Here are some pictures of the process....

See the wet board - water had soaked through it

Pulling up the flooring

Assessing the damage
Really loud, heavy-duty fans flew on it for days to get it all dried out....
We actually ended up with better carpet than we had put in there - he loves it.  Also, we became owners of Mimi & Papa Payne's hid-a-bed couch so once we got everything fixed, we were able to rearrange his room and get it all back in there.

The finished project

Please understand that this is NOT what his room looks like on a regular basis - imagine clothes & trash everywhere....and that's would be more accurate!!!

2012 Family Picture

Here is our annual January Family picture

New Years weekend

One of Matthew's cousins got married over New Year's weekend so we went to Georgia for the wedding.  We were able to attend the Carlson family gathering that weekend after the wedding which was great since it had been so long since we've gotten to go to one.

Julianna & Mary Harper - we had gone to the club for dinner!

Christian, Mitch & Rebecca - we took the shuttle from the hotel to the wedding

Matthew & Me (and Rebecca)

The cousin table at the wedding

Julianna & Daddy

What a great dad - as much as he hates to dance, he was willing to get out there with his sweetie who was dying to dance

Aunt Michelle got out there and danced with her, too

Playing spikeball with the cousins - what a fun game....I see it in our future sometime!
